Period 400 – 1200 AD had remarkable contributions to mathematics especially in terms of numbers which we use globally even today. Following major things related to mathematics happened in this period:
- Aryabhata invented place value system where 0 can be placed and later Brahmagupta and Bhaskara started using 0 as a number and symbol ‘0’ was used for nothing/empty.
- Bhakshali (Hindu) numerals were completely developed and were passed to west which replaced Roman numerals on the basis of simplicity and completeness and later to the whole world. This are the numbers we use even today and because of their completeness I don’t think they will be ever replaced by any other number system.
